I had bought the hitch months ago before the lockdown, they were open but I couldn’t get my kayak anyway so I just said I would come when I could. Seemed like a bunch of people were stuck here for a while and were going somewhere with trailers. I saw a Colorado truck returning a trailer. I am going to put a riser adapter on this hitch, I’m not towing, it’s just for a Yakima Longarm to add another resting point for my 17' Hobie Tandem Island sailing kayak. It seemed like too little support to make a journey with the boat up there so I figured out you can take the Longarm that is meant for pickup bed extension and just angle it a bit up to a low wagon roof level. TSX wagons are pretty low and sleek, with that it should be able to go anywhere. We hope we can take the boat up to Washington sometime to try and see Orcas.

What’s up with the Atlas? I find it funny how those chrome scuff plates shine a reflection on the hatch almost like the pattern on the back of some emergency vehicles.

I think it’s a Tiguan. It has CA Olympic plates, I’m not sure if they are 1984 plates they kept or they give them to olympians today? I haven’t checked on it. I have a 1983 Mercedes so I can’t get 84 plates with the year of manufacture form. I have seen a couple old mercedes with original olympic plates. Maybe they have new ones, I have to check.

Well hey there fellow TSX Wagon driver! I almost got a hitch for mine, but that was when I thought I’d have something to tow. Will get it once I need it, which shouldn’t be for a while. In anycase, it looks good!

Yeah it looks easier to install than I thought, I heard things had to be trimmed but I don’t see any evidence of that. My kayak is big, I felt another lace for it to rest was advisable, the car is low so it will be easy to get down, the SUV people need step ladders. I considered a Volvo but they get shit mileage compared to this car. I got the mud flaps and put older Type S wheels on it. I see your picture, you have the reddish maroon color? I haven’t seen thar color here, not very many.

Not very many indeed. I think the difficulty with the hitch is the dual exhaust, which I thought had to be taken out or at least moved in order to get the hitch installed properly. I was yearning for a Volvo early on too, but my dad had one with major electrical issues. Would’ve had to get one that was old and mechanical, and that just wasn’t going to fly. Unlike yours, my TSX is completely stock. Partly because I haven’t the funds to do anything for it, and partly because I haven’t the knowledge to do anything for it, but it’s a fantastic wagon nonetheless.

I like the color, I haven’t seen one here. I had heard that about the hitch too, but that was from a forum online with a different hitch I guess. I went to U Haul and they said it was ok, we did have a brief bit of confusion when I first ordered the hitch parts, they kept asking if it was a ZDX and I kept saying TSX Wagon, they finally got it. They didn’t have to touch the exhaust, go to UHaul I guess.

We have a couple white ones around here based on the drivers I see. I see a couple grey ones too, one parks at a hospital near me every day. And I’ve only seen one heavily modified one:

It’s like birdwatching when it comes to trying to find our cars, and anytime I do I light up. It’s hard to know if other TSX drivers actually know they’re driving an obscure/semi-rare car, at least when they haven’t modified it. I’ve been going to college in FL and in my 9 months so far I’ve seen a total of 2. There are a lot more in MD, where I’m originally from, and up north in general, but I definitely haven’t seen more than 50 in my 2 years of ownership.

Yeah the two old ladies I see in them have no idea, I can tell, I used to think it was the same white car but it is two different old ladies . I saw a grey one driving in Sausalito one time while I was driving mine and I could tell by the guys look that he knew. We do car spotting all the time on Oppo, with DOTS etc. so I am always vigilant .

I’m a little new to the technical jargon of Oppo, but what does DOTS actually stand for? May be a dumb question, but I may be a dumb guy so it all checks out. My car was also owned by an old lady and champion chainsmoker up in CT. Old ladies like the car.
